Volunteering at La Mothe Chandeniers

CHÂTEAU DE LA MOTHE CHANDENIERS is a truly timeless place. Located in the Loire Valley in France, it is a romantic and mysterious masterpiece that fell into ruin after a devastating fire in the early 20th century.
In 1932, a fire broke out and tore through the building and many of its contents. Though the chapel and some small outbuildings were saved, the chateau itself was left in ruins
As I was researching the setting for one of my characters in a vampire novel, I came across La Mothe Chandeniers. It is a magical castle that fell into ruin after a fire in 1932. During the course of my research, I came across a crowdfunding effort to restore the castle. Of course, I had to contribute. In so doing, I have become part owner of the castle. And as any responsible owner would, I flew to France to help in the restoration.
s. It’s a real treat for castle lovers, nature lovers, and budding explorers.
More than 7,400 complete strangers from across the world have clubbed together to buy a historic French chateau to save it from ruin or being razed to the ground by developers. In what organisers say is the first project of its kind in in the world, a crowdfunding appeal raised more than €500,000 in just 40 days to purchase the 13th-century Chateau de la Mothe-Chandeniers in the west of the country.
