It consisted of three floors separated by floors; the upper floor with a stone vault not visible from the foot of the Tower,In the 15th century it was enclosed in the buildings of the Royal Palace. As I was researching the setting for one of my characters in a vampire novel, I came across La Mothe Chandeniers. It is a magical castle that fell into ruin after a fire in 1932. During the course of my research, I came across a crowdfunding effort to restore the castle. Of course, I had to contribute. In so doing, I have become part owner of the castle. And as any responsible owner would, I flew to France to help in the restoration.

Apart from saving the Château de la Mothe-Chandeniers, the 18000 donors are now the co-owners of the castle as well. Thanks to these donations, the Château de la Mothe-Chandeniers was brought back from the brink of destruction and is no longer a forgotten monument.

In 1809, it was bought by a rich Parisian businessman, François Hennecart, who restored the building and planted a vineyard in the grounds, but retained much of the original medieval building.

I lodged here while I volunteered to help restore La Mothe Chandeniers and few miles away.Located in the Loire Valley, the Château de Ternay, dating from the 15th century, stands in the middle of a 45-hectare park with a swimming pool and hundred-year-old trees. It offers a badminton court and guided tours of the castle.
