Just steps from the Place du Tertre , three gardens dedicated to Auguste Renoir surround the Museum of Montmartre. They are named in memory of the impressionist painter who lived on-site between 1875 and 1877, where he painted several masterpieces including the famous le Bal du Moulin de la Galette (“The Moulin de la Galette Ball”), La Balancoire (“The Swing”), and Rue Cortot Garden (“Rue Cortot Garden”). The Renoir Gardens offer breathtaking views of the vineyard, the Clos Montmartre, and northern cityscape of Paris.

Created in 1960 in one of the oldest buildings on the Butte built in the 17th century, the Montmartre museum was a place of meeting and residence. 12 rue Cortot attracted many artists such as Renoir who had his studio there as well as Suzanne Valadon, Emile Bernard or Raoul Dufy.During a visit to Montmartre, stop at the museum and discover our permanent collections and temporary exhibitions as well as the Gardens and Café Renoir.

Saint-Pierre de Montmartre.One of the oldest surviving churches in Paris, second to the Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Pres, but the lesser known of the two main churches in Montmartre, the other being the more famous 19th-century Sacré-Cœur Basilica, just above it. Saint-Pierre de Montmartre, begun in 1133, was the church of the prestigious Montmartre Abbey, destroyed in the French Revolution.According to the earliest biography of Saint Ignatius Loyola, the martyrium of Montmartre Abbey was the location at which the vows were taken that led to the founding of the Society of Jesus.

It's a bummer when your hotel room is not ready after a very long travel day. Fortunately, the Seine was only a 5 min walk from room

Lots of food and wine stands along the Seine. It's a perfect place to unwind, people watch and smoke a cigar. This was would be a good writing spot for any writers out there

Hotel Rivoli is a bare bone hotel probably a step up from a hostel but my room was a single with its own bath and a balcony. I enjoyed my stay at this perfectly located reasonably priced lodging
